Overview

Welcome Event

We look forward to welcoming all NQTs and mentors to this event where we will look at the statutory expectations around the NQT induction year and the structure of the training programme. Successful second year teachers will talk through their journey and provide new NQTs with top tips for a successful year.

Weekly Support and Training

School based, highly trained mentors work alongside NQTs, ensuring that they receive personalised support and opportunities to develop professionally using a range of techniques and strategies over the year. Weekly structured Professional Development Review meetings between mentors and NQTs provide a framework for mapping out the journey towards outstanding. Focussed NQT release time ensures that any actions from these meetings are met quickly.

High quality termly training for all NQT mentors is available to support and guide the induction process. Capitalising on best practice drawn from the National Standards for ITT Mentors and the recommendations made from the Carter review, we place the Standards for Teachers’ Professional Development at the core of our training offer for all mentors.

Termly Support and Training

Building on from the ITT Programme and continuing the developmental training pathway, once every half term we will be offering an after school twilight training session to all NQTs. In addition, every term NQTs will be invited to attend a one day Festival of Learning. Phase specific, practical workshops and training seminars covering a broad range of topics will provide NQTs with inspiring, take away strategies to implement in the classroom.

Celebration Event

This celebration event at then end of the academic year will provide current newly qualified teachers with the opportunity to come together to review their first year of teaching and celebrate their successes.
